Re^2: why is glycerin removed from the gauges?

These are industrial gauges that are typically inserted into high pressure lines that could see a lot of intense and rapid pressure fluctuations. To prevent damage to the internals, or the needle falling off, the manufacturer adds glycerin as a "shock absorber". For their needs, it is perfect. For our needs, it slows down the reaction time (particularly with the electric pump, because it delays the pressure reading.
