the horrors of moving seem to have been blanked out of memory to some degree , due to the multi-leveled trauma associated with ...
oh, I don't know... MOVING !!!. replaced by more pleasant memories of real closets, heaters with dedicated circuits, room for all of our stuff, nothing between us and the rio grande but our yard and some trees and ditches, about 1/3 mile's worth , real-live cowboys with cows next door , sounds and sights of trains going by , and the
familiar , joyful noise of wailing chihuahuas coming from the dog/bird/computer room .
I have 850 s.f. of shop space , plus a storage room ; almost twice the old sheltech's area . it was rough, but we insulated the ceilings and walled in two of the 3 garage doors, and insulated them too . I added a bunch of outlets , walled in a window, sprayed for mold, painted, (I PAINTED some of the inside of my shop !!!) put up lights, put in a sink , and... did a bunch of other stuff to get it workable.
the most shocking thing of all is that I actually moved out of the neighborhood I had been (stuck) in since I was 6 , and that took some radical , fundamental , personal evolution (and spousal coercion) to get on board for. but here I am , relaxed again .
funny, because being back to slightly stressed about getting enough work done is now a comparatively relaxed state , a vast improvement over the final weeks of fixing and moving , and the first days of
settling in (eg the day I wanted to start working but had to fight with and then replace the water heater ) .
well monday night has turned all the way into tuesday morning and I really need to sleep...
